Istanbul Earthquake and Natural Disaster Meeting was Held at ITU

A meeting was held with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Earthquake and Natural Disaster Commission under the coordination of Istanbul Technical University to determine the actions and strategies for urban transformation and earthquake in Istanbul.

The meeting organized at Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on August 4, 2021 to determine what has been done about urban transformation and earthquake in Istanbul and the actions and strategies to be taken was held under the chairmanship of the ITU Disaster Management Institute Director Prof. Dr. Ercan Yüksel and İBB Earthquake and Natural Disaster Commission Chairman Kadem Ekşi.

At the meeting, ideas were exchanged about the current urban transformation process in Istanbul and possible earthquake scenarios, as well as actions and strategies that need to be planned in the near future. In the meeting attended by İBB Earthquake and Natural Disaster Commission members and rapporteurs and a large number of faculty members from various departments of our University, important outcomes were obtained regarding the actions and strategies for urban transformation and earthquake in Istanbul.

It was decided that a report containing the suggestions of ITU regarding the important topics discussed at the meeting be prepared by ITU Disaster Management Institute and delivered to İBB Earthquake and Natural Disaster Commission.
